Don't have too much to say about this week's round-up, except that I've had a lot of migraines lately and have spent the recovery periods curled up in the dark reading fanfiction. And... you may or may not have noticed that I've been very into a certain fandom as of late.

Note: If you don’t know The Mechanisms (everything up until Star Trek) there is a lot of canon violence, Jack Harkness-esque immortality and generally messed up people. They’re criminals, Harold. Tread carefully and REALLY check the tags on AO3. That said, everything NSFW is consenting.

And now, the videos! All of these are Good Omens; most of them animatics, one of them not.

My very good IRL friend Bethan - who is currently putting me up this evening, and got me a "coming out" gift because she's lovely - has been doing these really excellent reviews of episodes of Xena: Warrior Princess! Her most recent one is summarized as follows:

"Today we’re looking at that time Xena single-handedly stopped a very pale Persian army. Suck it, Leonidas!"

Also c'mon, you can't fault that thumbnail image. (I was there when she made it! Helped approve it!) Check her out on youtube if you're a fan of Xena, and maybe drop a link and subscribe or a nice comment.

Hello, hello! In honour of being MIA for a couple of weeks (life, amirite?) I thought I would come back in time for a (late) fanfic rec post for Fanfic Writers Appreciation Day! There's some "expected" stuff again (Doctor Who) and some not-expected stuff (Basil of Baker Street, again??) and I'd also like to make a shout-out to my favourite fic writer... [personal profile] elisi!

And now, the usual recs!

Another busy week, another set of fanfic! I have some photos to share of my trip to the other side of the province earlier in the week, but for now, here's my reading recs for the week :D Sorry for the somewhat obscure fandoms - I've been listening to the Neverwhere audiobook, and Basil of Baker Street wound up on my dashboard last night...

So I've been a little quiet the past week, because with the home renovations I sort of... burned out. But good news! The case is closed, and though there's still a little work to go, it's no longer with an inspector breathing down our necks. Hooray!

But since I've been burned out and my knee (which it turns out is probably a meniscus tear and is scheduled for an x-ray at the end of the month) is being very uncooperative in the department of getting things done, I've been reading a lot of fanfiction. So here I come with recs of what I've read in the past week.

So for those of you who don't know, I consider myself both a polytheist, and someone with an avid interest in ancient norse history and theology! (I was a historical reenactor for five years - 1066 to the Magna Carta!) With this in mind, I ordered a bunch of books at the start of the pandemic which thanks to shipping delays are just about starting to roll in now (seriously, it's like Christmas come early!) and with the renovations I've not been able to give them my full attention, but I thought I would share what I've picked up (don't judge me, I had a bunch of money made in commissions stored up on Paypal) in the hopes it might pique somebody else's interest!

As you may be able to tell, I'm also interested in Arab history and Islamic theology, being Arab myself. Oh, and polytheism and divination in general.

EDIT: I also joined the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids at the Bardic Grade just before Covid.

Some of these books I've picked up to supplement my personal theology, some are research for my WIP novel series, and some just caught my attention. If anyone is interested, I also have a website where I blog about this sort of thing and write book reviews! I'll link it if anyone asks.

Spoilers abound if you've not yet seen the finale, but I've been losing it over these Catradora songs for a couple of days. The writer is just so good? [sobs in shipper]
